About the Tours

Question Answer
What does the price include?

Conquest/Highlights: Price includes coach transportation, accommodation in tents, tour guide, breakfast and dinner everyday, and lunch on selected days.

Andalusia: Price includes ground transportation in Spain, accommodation in villa/apartment, tour guide, breakfast and dinner everyday. Flights to Spain are NOT included.

All taxes are included. Tipping is not mandatory for driver/tour guide but customary to tip driver and crew for service delivered (no set price).

Other (optional) cost considerations:

  • Travel insurance
  • Entrance tickets, boat rides, sourvenirs (see spending guide on our website)
  • Sleeping bag* (bring your own or hire from us)
  • cabins*

* For Conquest/Highlight tours only.

How many people are there in each trip? There can be 40-140 persons on each coach tour (Highlights/Conquest of Europe). The Andalusia tours are much smaller with group sizes averaging 8-20 persons.
How much spending money should I bring? We estimate you will need approximately 40-50 euros per day to cover your spending money for excursions, souvenirs, food and drinks. Use the spending guide on our website to help you estimate how much you need.
What currency do I do and where should I change money? You will need Euros and Swiss Francs for the Highlights and Conquest tours (and GBP in UK). You can change money before you go, on the ferry or in the European cities themselves.
Is travel insurance necessary? We strongly recommend all participants take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover medical expenses, accidents, lost or theft of personal belongings. It will also give you peace of mind while on tour. Note that travel insurance is not included in the tour price. For details and quotations, please refer to travel insurance
Do I need a visa?

The visa requirements will depend on your nationality. For Malaysian passport holders, you will not need a visa to travel but you will need to be able to prove your status as a tourist/student in UK. Therefore it would be helpful if you bring documents such as flight tickets, hotel bookings or student id etc to prove your status.

For other passport holders, it is your responsibility to ensure that you can travel to the countries on your tour. For further advice on visa requirement please see our guidelines outlined in the section under "Other Info" (click here) for further details.

Is there a luggage limit? There is limited storage space on the coach so please limit your luggage to maximum weight of 20kg (dimensions 70cm x 50cm x 25cm) plus 1 small handbag/rucksack. Families/groups can pool your luggage allowance together (e.g. 1 bag for 2 persons). We recommend soft bags/suitcases/backpacks as they are easier to pack in the coach storage compartment and don’t bring your best suitcase because they will be some wear and tear during its’ many rounds in/out of the storage compartment. Laundry facilities are available at all campsites so please pack light. Too much luggage and not enough space will cause delays in the tour.
What do I need to bring on the tour? The general rule is to pack light and to leave space for souvenirs. Laundry facilities are available at the most campsites so you can wash your clothing throughout the tour. Please see our suggested packing list.
Can I charge my mobile phone / camera during the tour?

There are some power points available around the campsite and in cabins (for those who have upgraded their accommodation) for you to charge electrical equipment but you will need a European socket adapter.

Is internet or computer access available during the tour?

Yes, there are internet cafes situated throughout Europe which you can visit during your own time. Some campsites provide WI-FI (but may not be free).

Do you cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian)? Dinner is usually freshly cooked on the day but the chef will only prepare 1 menu each night for everyone. We will not be able to cater for tastes and dislikes. If you have special dietary requirements such as food allergies, then the chef will do his best cater to your specific needs. The meals provided on the tour are not suitable for vegetarians and sometimes it is not possible to cater for this with the limited ingredients.
Are there any age restrictions?

People of all ages are welcome to join the tour but should be aware that the nature of the trip can be physically demanding due the amount of travel. The trips are designed for the energetic traveller with limited budget who likes to explore as much as possible. The conquest of Europe tour can be particularly demanding for the elderly or those with young children so if they want to join then they need to be aware of the travelling conditions.

What is the weather like in Europe? The weather in Europe can be quite varied which is why we recommend that you bring suitable clothing for all types of weather. Everyone should bring a winter jacket even during the summer months because the nights can be cold in Europe and you will need it if you want to go on the mountain excursion in Switzerland. You can look at the average climate conditions for some cities on the following website: climate guides
Can I explore in my own time? How much free time will I have? Typically, during the stays in Amsterdam, Venice, Rome, and Paris, there are designated times where you are given the opportunity to explore in your own time. You will also have an additional opportunity for exploring in your own time, if you choose not to participate in certain group excursions (e.g. mountain excursion in the Swiss Alps).

How do I make a payment?

The easiest way to pay is by electronic bank transfer (our bank details are on our website - see section on "How to Join"). You can also send us a cheque or bank draft, made payable to Kelana Convoy Ltd. For customers who are transfer money from outside the UK, there are bank charges for telegraphic transfers of between £10-£15 per transaction (regardless of amount).

You can also pay using money transfer agents such as Western Union. This may be cheaper than bank transfer for smaller amounts (<£300) but is usually quite expensive for larger amounts.
