TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Madrid to Cordoba Pick from Madrid airport. Travel to hotel in Cordoba.

Day 2: Cordoba First destination after breakfast is Medina Azahara. The Putrajaya of Cordoba is now in ruined but the Spanish authority has made the visit extra special by building a museum and an auditorium explaning its historical significance. Then Old town of Cordoba itself and this was the capital of the Caliphate. Explore the maze of white wash houses and squares. The
main attraction is the Mezquita, built in the 8tth century as the third largest mosque in the Islamic world. In 1236 it was
converted into a church and in the 16th century a cathedral. Enjoy the Guadalquivir river and visit the monument of Ibn Rushd (Averoes).

Day 3: Granada Optional excursion of the whole day visiting Alhambra – The last Fortress City of Islamic Spain. The whole mountain top is surrounded by fortress guarding the Banu an Nasr Palace. There were also Army barracks and lookouts, mosque, Carlos V Palace, many many gardens and water features with the highlights being the architecs garden Jannatul Arif. You will be informed in details about the wonders of Alhambra’s architecture, its advanced garden landscape and design. Explore the mathematical genius of mosaics patterns – Fractals. We will also spend some time sightseeing the city of Granada if time permits. This evening we will travel south towards Malaga. |

Day 4: Gibraltar & Tangiers After breakfast we head southwest to the Rock of Gibraltar. This rock outcrop has
been under British control since 1704 but in the past has been ruled by both the Moors and Spanish. The rock is just over five km long and one km wide and best explored using the OPTIONAL official Rock Tour. The tour includes seeing the famous Barbary Apes, view from the top of the Rock, Hercules gates, St Michael caves for the stalagtite and stalagmites and Under seige tunnels. We pray Dzuhr/Asr at Ibrahim Mosque here in Gibraltar. After lunch and some shopping, we will take ferry to Tangiers where we will spend the night. | |
Day 5: To Marrakech After breakfast we start our journey to Marrakech. En-route, we will visit the city of Rabat, visiting the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Tour Hassan minaret. Upon arrival at Marrakech, you can wander around the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square and try to decide what you want for dinner amongst the many food stalls. | |
Day 6: Marrakech City tour of Marrakech including Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque and Saadines Tombs. Tonight we will head north towards Casablanca. | |
Day 7: Casablanca After breakfast, we will take a short panoramic city tour before going to the Casablanca airport for your flight home. Let us know if you want to fly back to London instead of KL. It will be cheaper to fly from Marrakech back to London. |
